On The Ground Grazing

April 8th, 2026 / 10 - 11:30AM Webinar

The UNH Extension Beginning Farmer Program and Granite Graziers are excited to offer this online workshop on creating a grazing management plan. While this event is designed with beginning livestock farmers in mind, all are welcome to attend.

Daimon Meeh, NRCS Grazing Specialist, will discuss the importance of grazing management plans and how they can support a thriving farm.

Participants will then hear from two farmers who will share their own grazing plans, walk through their planning process, and discuss how they put their plans into practice.

Julia Lownie, owner of Dancing Bear Farm in Claremont, NH, raises pigs, chickens, and goats using regenerative silvopasture practices.

John O’Brien, owner of Winnicut River Farm in Stratham, NH, raises grass-fed beef and lamb, along with pastured poultry, eggs, and pork, using regenerative practices.

Statewide and Beyond

Attention producers!

Over the next 6 weeks, NH conservation districts will be holding their annual local work group meetings, in partnership with their local NRCS field office. These are public meetings for producers to voice their thoughts about resource concerns, NRCS programs/funding scenarios/producer services, and conservation district programs. The results are used by NRCS to inform funding priorities for the following year and by districts for upcoming programs.

The list to the right shows each county’s time and date of their meeting. Please see the district’s website for more details. All meetings are free and open to the public. Most districts are asking people to register for the purpose of getting an estimated headcount for refreshments.
